Our big weekend is nearly upon us. Couple of quick reminders:
- This SATURDAY, at Bob Elder Sensei’s dojo, we will be cutting a video promotional clip. Our school has grown tremendously over the past 18 months and we are more than half way toward meeting our attendance goals. I think this will be a big help, along with all of the other work we are doing. Special thanks to Mark, Gary and Neal for participating in this clip. Special thanks to Tanya Ryan, a professional videographer from Fort Lauderdale for helping us out. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in as well. In short, it will consist of some demos, interviews and testimonials. The clip will be at or less than 3 minutes.
- This SUNDAY, Sept. 23rd, we will be having our Book Release Party. Central Florida Systema members collectively wrote the book, “Taking Strikes” and we will take some time to celebrate this. Martial arts is not just about blocking kicks or defending against a knife. It is about going outside the comfort zone and taking a risk. Writing this book for many was as much a martial act as any defense against a punch ever was. Taking a risk, respecting others, becoming a better person — these are the real values of martial arts. I am always amazed when I see people in the martial arts for 30 years or more, who still have not figured this out. We have, and as a group, will celebrate our accomplishment. Of course, our special guest via Skype will be Vladimir Vasiliev. Vlad has kindly agree to speak to our group and we are most appreciative of this.
Most schools are set up as a Triangle; that is, there is one person at the top and the rest filter down in order. Not us. We are a circle. A tightly knit circle of 26 people – 26 students and 26 teachers, all along the same path. We train hard, sweat, sometimes struggle and sometimes succeed. This weekend, it is time to have fun.
What ever you may be doing, I can assure you, you will not be having has much enjoyment as we will!!
Come join us. Everyone is welcome.
